What is VPS hosting?
A VPS gives you isolated server resources and root-level control without the cost of a dedicated physical server. You get your own operating system, your own software and capacity that is not shared with the sites around you.
What does self-managed mean?
It means your team administers the server: operating-system and software updates, security hardening, monitoring, incident response, and configuring and testing backups. Webdev provides and supports the underlying infrastructure. If that split does not suit you, Managed VPS puts the administration on us.
Can I choose my operating system?
Yes. You can deploy a Linux distribution or Windows Server. The available images and any licensing that applies are confirmed during configuration.
Are backups included?
On a self-managed VPS, backup configuration and restores are yours to run. Backup and offsite backup add-ons are available if you would rather we handled that part — see the add-ons above.
Can I add cPanel or Windows Server?
Yes, both are available as add-ons. Availability, compatibility with your chosen image and pricing are all confirmed during configuration rather than quoted here.
Can I move to Managed VPS later?
Yes. Talk to us and we will agree the scope and timing with you first, and the change takes effect at your next renewal.
